I started out writing songs and recording demos in the 1970s. By 1983, my hardcore Punk band, Sluggo, recorded a production master tape at Group Effort, which was cut to 7\" (@ 33+1/3) and pressed at QCA. Eventually, I moved to the other side of the studio glass and started engineering various genre tracking and mixing sessions in 1995. I transitioned to mastering in 2001 and added lacquer-cutting in 2014 after spending three years restoring my lathe and running many tests. I received mentoring from master cutters, Al Grundy and Burgess Macneal, and also got pointers from master cutter, Mike Fuller, who cut mixes by Tom Dowd for Rod Stewart and Kenny Loggins. Mike visited the studio in 2015 to see his old lathe and the room where he first started cutting (Control C, at Lot 33).
