I've been the in the industry for some time now. And over the years I've read in Mix, EQ, TapeOp, and now Gearsluts, several accounts of studio robberies. While the overwhelming majority occur overnight and involve no violence, I read an account of "client attendance" that ended with a tied-up engineer and gear stolen.
I do everything I can to hide the physical location of my studio. There's no signage out front, no listing in the phone book, nothing on my website, and even the domain registration is private. What I can do with my customers is Skype, email, phone, chat, etc.
While reviewing the new rating system on Directory Of Mastering Studios I was informed that I lost points for not including my address in my entry. I'd like a higher rating but I'm not willing to disclose my physical address.
Is there anyone else who feels this way?
Thanks - Derek
